How To Clean a Sticky Bra in 5 Easy Steps

Self-adhesive bras, most commonly known as sticky bras, are a wardrobe staple for many women.

When you know how to care for a sticky bra properly, it can last a long time. Otherwise, a buildup of dirt or oil can prevent the adhesive from sticking to your skin.

However, because of their unique material, adhesive bras cannot be machine washed or dried. Therefore, it is essential to know the correct way to care for them.

So, let’s learn how to wash a sticky bra in five easy steps!

Step 1: Select your soap

Before doing anything else, the best thing to do is to check the instructions for the sticky bra and see if there are any instructions for detergent.

If the manufacturer does not provide specifics, hand soap and water will do the trick. You can also purchase a bra cleanser detergent if you want to get fancy.

Step 2: Scrub away the grime

In a sink or washbasin, wet your fingertips in the water and gently apply the soap to the bra. Avoid using any material other than your fingers at all costs, including sponges or washcloths.

These materials can permanently damage the bra’s adhesive. Instead, use circular motions with your fingers and massage the dirt away lightly.

If the bra is especially dirty, you may need to increase the amount of soap and pressure. You can also let the bra soak in the suds for a few hours until the debris breaks down further.

Step 3: Rinse and repeat!

After removing all of the dirt from the bra, it’s time to rinse it off with warm water.

While rinsing, massage the bra material to remove all the soap thoroughly. Continue until the water runs clear.

Repeat the wash process if the bra is still dirty.

Step 4: Dry the bra

Once the sticky bra is clean, allow it to air dry for approximately 12-24 hours. There are a few techniques you can use to let it dry.

The first drying method is the simplest; just lay the bra on a flat surface facing up the adhesive side.

The second approach is to lay the bra–sticky side up– on top of its packaging so that the bra maintains its shape.

The third way to dry the bra is to hang it on a hook or rack.

Finally, place the bra near sunlight or a fan to dry the materials faster.

Remember to avoid extreme heat, so the adhesive materials on the bra don’t melt.

Step 5: Store it safely

Now that you have adequately washed and dried your sticky bra, it’s time to store it!

Be sure to keep the adhesive bra in a safe place where it will not further collect dirt.

Popular storage options are to hold sticky bras are in their original packaging or a large Ziploc bag.
